Behind every effective cultural organisation is a well-functioning administrative core, and for ACCD, this role is fulfilled by the Secretariat. Often overlooked in discussions of organisational strategy, the Secretariat is in many ways the connective tissue of the entire institution — the operational hub through which information flows, relationships are maintained, and the organisation’s promises to its members and partners are kept.
Primary Point of Contact
The Secretariat serves as the first port of call for all external enquiries — from potential members and event attendees to grant-making bodies, partner organisations, and media. Its responsiveness and professionalism directly shape ACCD’s public reputation and the quality of relationships it builds over time.
Event Coordination and Logistics
From securing venues and managing registrations to coordinating with artists, speakers, and community volunteers, the Secretariat provides the logistical backbone for all ACCD programming. This behind-the-scenes work is what makes the organisation’s public-facing cultural events possible — and what determines whether they run smoothly.
Membership Management
Administering ACCD’s membership is a core Secretariat function, encompassing registration, renewals, communications, and the maintenance of an accurate and up-to-date member database. Effective membership management is foundational to the democratic governance of the General Assembly, ensuring that all eligible members can participate in annual decision-making.
Information Dissemination
The Secretariat ensures that members, partners, and the wider public receive timely, accurate, and well-crafted information about ACCD’s activities, opportunities, and impact. This communications function is increasingly vital in a digital-first environment where visibility and engagement depend on consistent, high-quality outreach across multiple channels.
